About Us > Company History > 1980s

  • Late 1987 Glenn Kennedy, the Annuity Division IS Manager for E.F. Hutton, wanted to form a small consulting company. When Sherson-Lehmen purchased E.F. Hutton, Glenn felt the time was right. At the end of 1987, Glenn formed Kennedy & Associates as a systems consulting and integration firm providing IS services and training programs to the San Diego business community. In the beginning, it was a one-man show working out of a second bedroom, with a briefcase and a dream.

  • Feb 1988 The initial clients for K&A consulting services were San Diego State University, Henley Corporation, Scripps Memorial Hospital, and Jaycor — large San Diego firms that were familiar with Glenn and his programs at E.F.Hutton.

  • Early 1989 Courseware Corporation and SDSU asked K&A to be the subject matter experts for a series of network courses they were developing for Apple Computer Corporation. Glenn Kennedy also delivered the technical content for a video teleconference in May 1989 called "LAN Literacy." That video conference was transmitted to all the Apple Computer and Computerland video sites throughout the US.

  • June 1989 K&A teamed with Computerland to design a simple LAN for a growing mortgage servicing company called Bowest Corporation (now ITT-Bowest). With the success of this initial LAN, Bowest chose K&A as its systems integration firm. Since then, the firm has designed and installed all the increasingly complex and extensive networks for ITT-Bowest.
